Symbolism and Representation
Statue of Santa Rita is easily recognized by its iconic elements, which narrate her life and miracles:
The Nun’s Habit: She wears the habit of the Augustinian Nuns, symbolizing her total surrender to God after years of suffering in marriage and family life.
The Stigma on Her Forehead: This is the most distinctive symbol. It represents the stigmata of a thorn from Christ’s crown, which she received on her forehead after asking to share the pains of the Passion. It symbolizes redemptive suffering and her union with Christ.
The Roses: The roses and figs out of season (if depicted) symbolize the final miracle of her life. In winter, shortly before she died, she asked for roses, which miraculously bloomed, representing her ability to transform despair into faith and pain into beauty.
Spiritual Significance
Devotion to Saint Rita of Cascia is invoked for:

Powerful Intercession: She is one of the great intercessors, teaching that unwavering faith can transform suffering into grace.
