The Powerful St. Benedict Medal

The main focus of this chaplet is the Medal that accompanies it. The St. Benedict Medal is one of the oldest and most respected sacramentals in the Catholic Church, known for its effectiveness against evil.

The Medal carries Latin inscriptions with great meaning:

• On the Cross (front): The Cross of St. Benedict, the center of all protection.

• On the Circle (back): The initials of a powerful prayer of exorcism:

  • V.R.S. N.S.M.V. S.M.Q.L. I.V.B.: Vade retro Satana; Nunquam suade mihi vana. Sunt mala quae libas. Ipse venena bibas. (Begone Satan! Never tempt me with your vanities. What you offer is evil. Drink the poison yourself.)

Spiritual Significance

Owning and using the St. Benedict Chaplet is invoking:

1. Protection Against Evil: The medal acts as a shield against evil influences, temptations, envy, and the snares of the enemy.

2. Strength Against Temptation: St. Benedict is a master of the spiritual life. The chaplet encourages discipline, perseverance, and the ability to resist moral and spiritual temptations.

3. Constant Prayer: The small format facilitates quick prayer (like a decade of the Rosary or a simple prayer) in moments of anxiety, fear, or urgent need.

4. Inner Peace: St. Benedict is a peacemaker. The chaplet helps calm the mind and heart, promoting peace and inner order.
