Usage and Purpose
Taper candles are preferred in rituals where the goal is for the candle to burn down completely, releasing the energy and intention constantly.
Rituals and Spells: They are the classic choice for candle magic, where color is the key factor. The candle color is carefully chosen to correspond to the ritual’s intention (love, prosperity, protection, healing, etc.).
Focus on Intention: The simple format facilitates the “programming” of the candle. Before lighting it, the candle is often anointed with essential oils, and the intention is inscribed (written or visualized) on the body of the wax.
Burn Time: A 15cm taper candle (depending on the thickness and wax composition, usually paraffin or beeswax) has a burn time that can vary between 2 to 6 hours. This is enough time for most ceremonies, but not so long that it requires constant vigilance for several days.
Energetic Cleansing: White or black candles are used for cleansing and purification of spaces, with their total consumption being seen as the completion of the purification cycle.
Common Color Symbolism
The color of the taper candle is its most important attribute, as each color corresponds to a specific energetic frequency:
White: Purity, peace, new beginnings, cleansing, and substitutes for any other color.
Red: Passion, physical love, courage, and vital energy.
Yellow/Gold: Abundance, prosperity, success, intellect, and communication.
Green: Healing, growth, luck, and prosperity (financial or material).
Blue: Protection, inner peace, intuition, truth, and emotional healing.
Violet: Spirituality, transmutation, meditation, and psychic development.
Black: Banishment of negativity, absorption of unwanted energies, and protection.
⚠️Important Note⚠️: When using a ritual candle in rituals, it is essential to light it in a safe, well-ventilated place and on a heat-resistant container, always maintaining respect and concentration on the intention.
